Valedictory Address

To our School’s Division Superintendent, Dr. Allan G. Farnazo, our principal, Mrs. Norma P. Rendon, honored guests, friends and family, faculty and staff, fellow graduates, ladies and gentlemen, good morning.

Today marks the most significant and memorable event which, we the graduates will never forget.

Graduation! Yes, the day of achievement and a crowning glory of four years of intellectual struggle and sacrifices. At last, we have reaped the fruits of our toil and diligence. However, the race isn’t done yet, it is not the end but only a beginning of a bigger task ahead of us.
For the past four years, no one in this graduating class could have predicted that the years would have come and gone so quickly. When we first came to this school, we were skeptical. All of us had been pulled out of our comfort zones and pushed into a completely new environment, with new rules, new teachers, and new peers. Some of us realized right away that things would be different and tried to adapt to these new surroundings, while others clung to their old values and stubbornly refused to let go. In time, groups arose like Bud Sis and Bro, ZHYLL, Yhotz, Tropang Uhong and many more. We progressed as individuals to form a unified community.

But let us take a moment to examine the graduating class. From the moment this class set foot in ALSCI, we have set the precedent for leadership within the school and community. With a record seventy-eight individuals achieving the distinction of honors, our class has continually surpassed all expectations. Who could forget winning the volleyball team in Intramurals? The leadership of our batch has led the team be declared champion.

But ladies and gentlemen, this is nothing compared to what this class may achieve in the upcoming years. Among us, we may have the next Mark Zuckerberg or another Bill Gates. In our midst may sit a future head of the F.B.I. or another woman president. We may have the next Einstein or another Isaac Newton.

Fellow firebirds, our journey is just beginning. In our years at ALSCI, we have learned determination, character, ambition, and pride. ALSCI's continued achievements in the areas of academics and extra-curricular activities prove that as a community, we can perform miracles. Let us continue our vertical voyage, reaching for the stars and never settling for mediocrity. We are each given but one life with which to make a difference. Fellow graduates, what will you do with yours? In a society rife with violence and hate, we are given the opportunity to rise above the stereotype of the apathetic teenager. We have the power to do anything, to achieve everything, and to soar beyond all expectations. We are the graduating class of 2012 - strong, intelligent, and prepared to take the world by storm.

At this point, I would like to congratulate the batch of 2012 for achieving excellence in academics and in extra-curricular activities.

To our dear parents, most especially to my parents, for they are the significant character of what I am now. Thank you for the financial and moral support and for instilling in us the values we need for our development. The honors we reap today are for you. We know your happiness depends on us. So, we promise to be productive, responsible and live up to your expectations.

Who could forget the unsung heroes of today? Our dear teachers and second parents, I heartily thank our loving and dedicated teachers, for sharing with us the best knowledge for the past four years. For theirs, remain the noblest professions, by molding the most delicate thing in the world – our young minds! Fellow graduates, let’s take another look at our beloved teachers… and give them a round of applause.
Finally, to our Almighty God for the gift of life and for being there always, guiding us in all our undertakings. He is the very reason of our existence and every success. May He continually guide us in whatever journey we may take.

Our success is your success, for you have given us the freedom to dare, the courage to excel, and the belief that we have achieved our best. You have been there for us with support and care; you have faith when we doubted ourselves.

On the behalf of ALSCI’s Class of 2012, I congratulate you all on your accomplishments and I hope you have the best of luck with your future endeavors—may it be right after graduation or in another four short years.

And in time….
We WILL BE…
the economists that make sure we never go through a recession..
the scientist that will find alternative energy sources and…
the educators that will train the next group of leaders.

Whichever path we choose, WE WILL forever share a common bond!
Of being the Zealous 13 of Alabel National Science High School.

Thank you and Mabuhay!
