As we all know, in the month of September, we are celebrating the National Science Club Month with the theme: "CHEMERGY: Chemistry and Science Clubbing in Synergy" in accordance to the International Year of Chemistry. Various science activities are lined up for the celebration of the said event, and one of these activities is the National Science Club Month Summit which is held last September 3-4 simultaneously at different regions.
Our school Science Club, the ANSHS Science Club Enthusiasts (SCE) which is affiliated to the Philippine Society of Youth Science Clubs (PSYSC) did not miss the event.
The NSCMS for Regions 11 and 12 was hosted at Koronadal National Comprehensive High School in Koronadal City.
Day 1
We arrived at the host school on September 3, early morning since Sarangani is just an hour ride from Marbel. We noticed that there are already many schools present and we all headed to the school gym for the registration and the assignment of our subcamps. The program started at 8:30 am, which also marked the start of the nationwide Philippine Science Olympiad, which were held simultaneously in all NSCMS host schools.
The PSO examination lasted for 2 hours and as we returned to the gymnasium, the plenary session, which is conducted by Dra. Grace Vicente, is about to end.
I headed to the place where my subcamp stays, and introduced myself to them. Before we had our lunch, we danced the famous Dalandan Shake of Vhong Navarro which is already a hit for the chempers.
In the afternoon session, we started the different workshops which was worked by subcamp. The first activity is making a buckminsterfullerene dome. We were given guidelines about the said activity and they alloted 2 hours for us to plan, create and finish the model.
After the buckminsterfullerene activity, we had the Subcamp Quiz, a test which was answered by subcamp and the questions were all related to Chemistry.
At night, we conducted the PLEDGE NIGHT, where all subcamp representatives pledge or offer something for PSYSC. Then, all the subcamps lit a candle and put it in the respective marks to form the PSYSC logo.
